My PC desktop broke down. After some simple tests by a dealer he proved that the motherboard had gone kaput. So I bought a reconditioned motherboard just to have a computer to use, but the dealer had to reformat my computer to match the new motherboard.
And in one click, all my music and movies I've accumulated over a period of 4 years vanished into a data graveyard.
What's more, all my routine applications were gone and I have to download them all over again - wasting an entire morning just setting up my *new* computer.
Compared to my experience with Dad's Mac, this is exactly what I felt:
